Hip To Be Square

Another collection of fabric that arrived this week in the shop is Galaxy's Java Batik Softies. You've been asking for light, soft colored batiks and now we've got 'em! Tomorrow we'll be kitting up some of these beautiful batiks to make the wildly popular "Hip To Be Square" quilt. We have a feeling these will go fast, so stop in soon to get yours!

Interlude

Fabric is starting to arrive from Fall Market. This unique floral collection called Interlude has a beautiful hand-painted look, from the exquisite floral panel to the delicate coordinates and stripe. Use the elegant patchwork print for backings or on its own as a lovely patchwork quilt top. Furthermore embellish the panel with embroidery, decorative stitches or beading for a one-of-a-kind wall hanging. Another winning collection from Michele D’Amore for Benartex!

Sign Up Today For Our 2013 Buck-A-Block!

It's time to celebrate the New Year with a new Buck-A-Block quilt! This year's quilt features 7" blocks set on point in either a dark or light colorway. The dark colorway features reds, greens, creams and blacks; while the light colorway features peaches, greens and creams.

 

This year's quilt finishes 53" x 67" or you can purchase 2 sets of blocks and finishing kits to make a larger quilt. On our dark colorway sample quilt, we just enlarged the borders to make a 63" x 77" quilt.

 

Block kits are $1 per month for the first kit, and $3 per kit for each additional kit.

4th Anniversary Celebration

Make plans now to attend our 4th Anniversary Events on January 18 & 19! We'll host a Trunk Show on Friday, January 18 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center featuring Janna Thomas, creator of Bloc Loc Rulers. Come enjoy an evening of beautiful quilts, quilting tips and tricks, prizes, friends and fun! $5 per person.

Then join us on Saturday for Janna's "Star Fusion" Class, featuring a layering of techniques including string sets, divided rectangles, Bloc Loc rulers, mixing with flying geese, and stitch 'n flip. Every block will be unique like a snowflake! Class is $30 (includes pattern) plus supplies.

Stop in and see the latest fabric to arrive at Prairie Flower Quilt Co. "Little Black Dress" by Basic Grey for Moda is a gorgeous collection of florals, lace and geometrics in blacks, greys and beiges. Sizzlin' Santa Strip Run

We’re making last minute preparations for our first “Sizzlin’ Santa Strip Run” (aka Christmas in July Shop Hop) with Colby Sew and Vac and The Quilt Cabin in Colby, and Smoky River Quilt Shoppe in Oakley.  The shop hop is this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 12-14 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  We hope you’ll join us for a day of quilting fun! At each shop, you can purchase a strip packet for $10 that will feature 5 red and 5 green 2 ½” Christmas strips. Collect all 4 strip packets and choose to make one of the four projects featured at each shop (or purchase more to make all 4!) – check out each shop’s project below. You do not have to purchase the strip packets, though, to participate in the shop hop. Visit each shop to get your passport stamped and you will receive a gift when you turn in your completed passport at the last shop. Completed passports will be entered into a drawing for one of four $50 gift baskets.

Our strip project is this “Christmas Cactus Wreath” quilt. You can choose what size to make:  a tabletopper/wallhanging, throw, full or queen size quilt.  Our quilt is a full-size quilt and measures 80” x 80”. We’ve added a little sparkle to our quilt by using a background fabric with gold metallic swirls, quilting it with gold metallic thread and adding red and green crystals to the cactus tips. Perfect for any holiday setting – and the log cabin blocks are so easy to make! Finishing kits will be available to purchase.
